Training in Integrative Attachment Therapy

Comprehensive Training in Attachment Therapy for Therapists

We also offer shorter workshops and courses at conferences or within the curriculum of the Milton Erickson Society.

Our current comprehensive hybrid training program consists of a total of eight live days and one online course and includes an Introduction Training (Level 0), a 100-hour comprehensive online training (Level 1), an advanced training (Level 2), and case supervision (Level 3). After completing the program, participants have the opportunity to join supervision calls and form study groups. In doing so, they become part of the international Integrative Attachment Therapy community. Each seminar can be booked individually, and the full program is spread over half a year, allowing participants to gradually integrate the method through ongoing practice.

Trainings in Integrative Attachment Therapy in Germany

Next Training: October 23–25, 2025

About the Training

The training in Integrative Attachment Therapy (IAT) based on the Three Pillars Method of Attachment Repair is structured into four consecutive modules: the Introduction Training (Level 0), the comprehensive Online Training (Level 1), the Advanced Training (Level 2), and the Case Supervision (Level 3). Each seminar deepens the clinical application of a trauma-sensitive, attachment-oriented psychotherapy approach.

Participants learn to work with adults exhibiting insecure attachment patterns. The aim of the training is to build the core therapeutic competencies necessary to work effectively and sustainably with these often implicit and somatically anchored relational dynamics.

Training Structure:

In the Introduction Training, participants are introduced to the core principles of Antegrative Attachment Therapy: collaboration, metacognitive development, and embodied imagination. The seminar offers both a theoretical and experiential entry into the practical application of IAT.

In the Level 1 – Online Training, we build on the core concepts of collaboration, metacognitive development, and embodied imagination. Through structured video lectures, transcripts, and experiential exercises, participants learn to apply the model with increasing precision and confidence in clinical practice.

Note: As the Level 1 Online Training is not yet available in German, this year (2025) Introductory Training will fulfill the requirements for participation in further trainings (Level 2 & 3).

In Level 2 – Advanced Training, the understanding of insecure attachment patterns is further refined. Participants learn to tailor the method to avoidant, ambivalent, and disorganized attachment styles. The training emphasizes case work, role plays, and peer supervision.

In Level 3 – Case Supervision, participants work with real clinical material to further develop therapeutic confidence and diagnostic sensitivity in the context of complex therapeutic processes. This final module completes the training and qualifies participants to apply the method professionally.

Who is this training for?

This training is intended for psychotherapists, alternative practitioners (Heilpraktiker:innen), coaches, and professionals in counseling and support roles who want to deepen their understanding of attachment and professionally harness the transformative power of embodied relational experience.

Learning Objective:

All three modules are practice-oriented and emphasize self-experience, integration, and collegial reflection. The goal is not just intellectual understanding, but the gradual embodiment of a therapeutic stance capable of creating healing relationships – both within the therapy room and beyond.

Core Values in Teaching

Unleashing People’s Potential

Values & Approach

Diversity
We value a diversity of perspectives, life paths, and backgrounds. Every person is seen as an enrichment and should have equal opportunities.

Community
The training sessions at our institute are held in extended block events at a single location. Group community is important to us, as learning and well-being are enhanced in an environment where participants feel part of a supportive community.

Willingness to Experiment
Learning means jumping into the deep end and just giving it a try. Our exercises are not about doing something “right” but about creatively and playfully testing a new skill.

Respect
We strive to approach each participant with respect and curiosity. We create experiential spaces where everyone is free to be themselves and express their individuality.

Learning Through Experience
Psychological processes can only be truly internalized through personal experience. Therefore, the learning concept includes opportunities for self-exploration, both in group settings and in partner exercises.
